Day 14 - Our Last Night

We have come to the end of our 2 week project here in Kampong Mangkok, in Situ, Terengganu.

Over the course of our 2 weeks here, we have impacted the lives of many, from the lives of the people to even the lives of turtles.

We have released many turtle hatchlings over the 2 weeks, recovered close to 500 eggs laid by turtles.

We have also bettered the community in Kampong Mangkok by improving the lives of 5 people.

Mdm Zuraina Chik, by building her son a room for a barbershop.
 

Mdm Rohayu, by building the foundations for her new front porch.

Day 5 - 15th June 2017 Greetings, and many, many hellos from the Project Orion VIII Team! Today began with a delicious and hearty breakfast of Fried Kuay Teow coupled with a delicious egg cooked Sunny Side served fresh from Kak Ta's kitchen. Whilst we awaited materials and Pak Awang, the local handyman, to arrive for the construction of Madam Zurinah's Son's Shop, some members of the team set off to a nearby field to try our hand at catching goats, climbing trees, and playing a game of Rugby with a Coconut after we returned, however we received news that Pak Awang was off doing work elsewhere, whilst the materials had not yet arrived, leaving us with nothing to do for the day. Fortunately we were able to find work for the morning dismantling a shack outside Madam Zainab's house to make room for a porch we will build in the coming days. Our work done, and lunch eaten, we cycled back to the Pink House. Afterwards

Day 9 - Rohayu's Porch

Greeting from Terengganu! We started the day with some scrumptious bee hoon goreng at Kak Ta's house. We then headed off to Rohayu's house to build a porch. Pre-Porch Today's porch building was a bit different as Pak Awang who usually helps us was at another job so he could only drop by to do the measurements for us. When he finished up we began digging holes. As the pillar manufacturer ran out of pillars of a certain height we had order a pillar that was longer than the others. For this pillar we had to dig a deeper hole. We learnt that the difficulty of hole digging increases exponentially with its depth as the distance between you and the bottom of the hole is greater causing you to have to bend down more and carry the dirt a longer distance as well. Day 1 - Ghost Crabs and Cats

Greetings from Seitu, Terengganu! After we touched down at the Terengganu Airport we headed to a local hypermart, Mydin to acquire our logistics. We split into pairs and set off in the maze of a hypermart, we originally allocated 15 minutes to finds the logistics and gather back but instead we took more than double of the allocated time. But we managed to buy the necessary items so it all worked out.  Heading to the hypermart At the hypermart Finishing at the hypermart we finally headed off to The Pink House. We took a sick "Tumblr photo" at the front yard and then we took a group picture by balancing the thousand dollar camera on a bunch of bricks.
